Where Have All the Flowers Gone documents the fictional lives and deaths of six generations of an American military family and three from France, Alexander Morris I through IX, along with the love of their sons, wives and mothers. The book is about war, death, love and remembrance traversing time from the French and Indian War to the ongoing War on Terror.
Although the novel deals with battles and wars it does not make any political statement about the reasons for those wars. It is a testimonial of the wanton waste of life and the personal tragedies left in the wake of war and battle deaths.
